This was my first stint as a Creative Director. Mattel felt Barbie’s look was getting a little stale (they were right) and wanted her to appeal to a new generation of g4-8 gamers. We took the 20's-something Barbie and friends keyart and gave it all an update. I also felt like Barbie could probably do some fresh stuff - not just more kid-cool jobs, but maybe things outside her usual wheelhouse and we suggested the tagline, "You Can Be Anything." Mattel loved it and soon we had Barbie doing all kinds of things from coaching to DJ’ing.
